Stories

Quickly, let go of your stories.
I’ve heard them before.
The details bore me.

The many wrongs,
your precious internal wounds,
how you finger through them
like prayer beads.

Hide them from the librarian,
from the historian
living inside of you.

Your heat and smoke,
the venom you treasure–
I’ve forgotten them.

Your struggle over death:
so lifeless!
