Afternoon Music

"From Henry Soulen"

“From Henry Soulen”

Noisy road below.
People coming home in the evening.
A screen of tall bamboo hides the
rushing cars.

The water fountain
blending traffic with forest falls.
Music hour comes.

Close the writing tablet,
asking who has touched me this day.
A ukulele strum sends the
multitudes on their way.

Melody springs from fingers,
paper sheet music
fluttering in the cooling,
clouding, afternoon breeze.
