No Money

She sat quietly in the light wind
and confessed that there was
no money, and that she really
wanted to start a chocolate
store.

When you think about it,
it seems like a good idea.
Specialized chocolate figures
shaped like seashells and starfishes

and people would come
and give you money for these
pieces. It would kind of be
like an art form

and you could still do something
more artistic than making chocolate
in the backroom but in the front room
it would just be chocolate

and nobody would need to know
that in the back room was an
artist who liked chocolate, but wasn’t
that crazy about making it

an artist that just wanted to paint,
tricking the world into believing
chocolate was the main thing.
